About Edd Blackler
I am running for a seat as a Democrat in the Montana State House of Representatives for House District 9. The actions, either taken or not taken, by our state representatives seriously affect our personal well being and ability to prosper and enjoy life. I’ve lived in the area for more than thirty years, and been involved in various efforts to help with local projects, and now I want to channel my energy toward issues that are dealt with in the State Legislature.
ABOUT ME……
I am a native Montanan, and long time resident of the Flathead. My wife Janet and I have been married for 36 years. We live in Bigfork, where she operates a tax preparation business. I have been a performer in the Bigfork Summer Playhouse, a general/vocal music teacher for Bigfork Schools, a Real Estate Broker, a substitute mail route driver, a Flathead County Detention Officer, and currently a school bus driver. I have always had a great interest in the local activities of Bigfork and I participated in the original Bigfork Steering Committee which helped fashion the Bigfork Area Land Use Plan in 1993. I was one of the original three Bigfork Elves who helped establish the tradition of decorating downtown Bigfork at Christmas, enlisting the efforts of a force of volunteers. I was also a Bigfork volunteer fireman for many years. I am a member and a past local and state chairman of the Back Country Horsemen of Montana. I appreciate the opportunities to hunt and fish that are available in Montana.
Clearly, everyone has their own perception of things that matter most. For me, some important areas of concern include affordable quality health care, a clean and healthy environment in which to work and live, a viable local and state economy that invites clean business, and when combined with a quality educational system, enables our young people to remain in Montana.
I encourage voters who live in House District Nine to contact me with their input.
